Regular Haircuts Keep Your Hair Healthier

For many of us, our hair and the way it looks is the crowning jewel of our overall aesthetic. We spend money, time, and put effort into maintaining a certain look and appeal when it comes to our hair. In order for us to do this and have our hair look it’s best at all times, we have to take into account those things that keep our hair healthy. When the elements work against us during different times of the year, or maybe our diets aren’t full of the right nutrients and proteins, or when we short ourselves on drinking water, our hair suffers. Not only that, but most of us have to deal with “flyaways” and split ends at some point. Sometimes the things we do to our hair or the things we put on our hair contribute to this problem. One huge thing you can do to keep your hair healthy and shiny all year round is to get regular cuts or trims. But why is this important in order to keep your hair healthy? Well, there are several reasons.

Contrary to popular belief, regular trims will not make your hair grow faster. However, regular maintenance including trimming or cutting your hair on a schedule will make your hair grow healthier. When you trim dead or split-ended hair, you control fly away and breakage. This makes your hair look and feel fuller and shinier. When you cut away the dead hair that would split at the ends, it allows continued growth at the root and length is maintained.

Regular trimming also helps avoid splitting in the future. When split ends are left on the strand of hair, they will just continue to split and the length that you wanted will never show up. This is because when split ends continue to split further and further up the strand of hair, they just end up breaking and making your hair shorter.

According to some experts, the frequency with which you should trim your hair depends highly upon the texture of your hair. Some say that people with textured hair should get a trim every two to three months while shorter styles like pixie cuts will need freshening up every few weeks. Longer hair will need to be trimmed around every four months, depending on how fast it grows. Again, if you have long hair and are seeing lots of split ends, you will want to get trimmed a little more frequently than that.

Healthy, luxurious hair is a must for many of us. One way to keep your hair in this state is by getting regular trims or cuts. By doing this you will be preventing further damage and breakage and you will be making your hair look and feel great.
