Most people generally thinking placing lightener on your hair and waiting 45 minutes a few times will do the job but what they don’t know prior to

doing that is the amount of damage you’re causing to your hairs outer cuticle and the loss of moisture to your hair. The two best methods for lightening your hair over time are baby lights and balayage!

What in the world is Balayage?!

Balayage is a French word for sweep or paint, this is a technique has really grown in popularity over the last few years. It is popular with stylists and clients alike because this technique will give a very natural look to your hair. Because this technique looks so natural on the hair it will prevent tiger stripes of block-looking pieces in your hair. To apply this technique to your hair, your color specialist will usually let your hair down the way it naturally lays and using a brush they will paint it onto your hair. This way your stylist can check to make sure every spot with the lightener is put on naturally and evenly.

I’ve Heard of Baby Lights!

Baby lights are a lighter and thinner version of highlights. This technique is done by your stylist weaving and putting your baby lights into foils. Baby lights are a great way to lighten your hair but without the obvious two tones break up contrast in the hair. Baby lights are a great option if you’re wanting a change without it being too dramatic!

There are many different ways to change up your hair this spring but we always urge you to make sure you’re seeing a professional since using these methods without proper equipment or education can cause irreversible damage to your hair.
